    Posted: 08/11/Mar at 11:45am
Went to lake Carey after work Monday.  It was very slow pickings at first.  But, once the sun started going down and I changed areas slightly I found what I was looking for all year!  Go figure I find em the last day I will be ice fishing carey.  The ice is getting thinner everyday.  Where I found fish it was 3.5-5".  Some other places are thicker but the ice is getting very inconsistant and tough to get on.

Ended up keeping 35 gills, 30 of which were 8-9.5" hogs!  Gotta love lake Carey Gills.  If I would have moved earlier, I would have taken home a limit of hog gills!  I was only on them for about an hour till I left(when it got dark)!

Max I can't believe you don't Ice fish Carey more with your love for big Panfish!

I haven't checked the ice on Stevens, but I can't see it being good if Carey is Bad.  Stevens warms up almost as fast as the flow pond does on Lake Carey.  The Flow doesn't have any ice left!  Lake Carey is a public lake, with a private boat launch(Franks).  You have to pay to park and or launch a boat there $5 to launch, he sells season passes(which is worth it for me).  Moose, Carey is the best lake that I know of around here for big Panfish.  The only problem is finding them can be almost impossible on Carey, on the ice anyway.  On a boat you can really slaughter them if you hit it right.  Send me an email if you want to know when to go and I will reply with info. on when and where.  Max and I are going to try to get out there when the bite is on, maybe we will see you there!

I hit the float pond today! I had to try out my new trolling motor! Everything works great but the fish weren't cooperating. Didn't have any bites but I only fished for crappie!

Oh well, they gotta start at some point!  I am glad to hear that everything went well with your new boat setup!  Were you doing donuts with the new foot control trolling motor!?
